Game progress and browser storage

House editions do not require an account. We store session identifiers, progress summaries, daily completion history and game preferences in your browser's local storage so you can resume on the same device. Daily completion history keeps up to 90 recorded dates. Other saved game entries and Travle statistics remain until you clear the site's browser data.

Our game API stores your guesses, results and session state on Cloudflare so it can run and restore a game. Sessions expire seven days after creation and their stored state is scheduled for deletion. Clearing browser data removes your local access to a session; it does not immediately delete the server copy.

Analytics choices

We use self-hosted Plausible at stats.blackholeenglish.com to measure aggregate page views and referral sources without analytics cookies.

With your permission, we also load Google Analytics to measure visits and Microsoft Clarity to understand interactions through usage analytics and session replays. These services may use cookies and process device, browser, page and interaction data. We send a denied advertising-storage consent signal and do not enable Google advertising personalization.

Google Analytics and Clarity do not load until you accept optional analytics. You can reject them and still play, or change your choice using Privacy settings. We remember this choice in local storage. Withdrawing permission reloads the page to stop the optional scripts and clears their accessible first-party cookies.

See Google's Privacy Policy and Microsoft's Privacy Statement for their data practices and retention policies.

Hosting, fonts and embedded games

Cloudflare hosts this site and game API. It processes connection information such as IP addresses and request details to deliver and protect the service. Fonts load from Google Fonts, which receives the network information needed to serve them.

Third-party games load only after you press their Play button. Their providers receive your connection information and may use their own cookies, storage, analytics or account systems. Our analytics choice does not control a provider's embedded game; consult that provider's privacy policy before using it.

Email and privacy requests

If you email us, we receive your email address and the information you include so we can respond and handle the request. Contact us to ask about access, correction or deletion of data we hold. Please do not include passwords or private game-session links.

Changes to our data practices will be reflected on this page with an updated date.
